Aquatic Aliens Sketch

Concept of some ocean going creatures, loosely inspired by prehistoric sea-life such as placoderms and Anomalocaris.

These extraterrestrial animals have gaping mouths and mandibular forelimbs. The smaller swimmers use theirs for filter feeding, while the larger predator has toothy grabbers that work in conjunction with its flexible upper jaw. On land, this setup has produced creatures that have mantis-like heads elevated above clawed arms, the mouth positioned just below the neck.
